Philosophy

Educational research proves that learning occurs most effectively when students are presented with a variety of learning options. In any secondary classroom, we believe opportunities for creative, higher-level problem solving, and hands-on experiences are important, and technology may be one of the best learning tools available to meet these needs. Our experience proves that, handled properly, the computer can be an effective catalyst and tool for learning in the classroom and at home. 

At Moeller, faculty members and students model behavior that encourages all members of the school community to explore and utilize every possible resource for the implementation of technology in the classroom and as a learning tool at home.

Background

Moeller’s commitment to technology began in 1984 with the purchase of the school’s first computers. The following year Moeller created an Apple IIe Lab and installed a Unix operating system. During the next three years Moeller completed a DOS Lab, then added a Mac Lab in 1991. In 1992 Moeller began providing the infrastructure necessary to make a full pledge to technology education, installing digital systems and providing ongoing training to the faculty.

Chaminade Information and Technology Center & Help Desk

The Chaminade Library and the Technology Help Desk open daily at 7:15 AM and close at 3:15 PM or at the discretion of the librarian or Help Desk personnel. Students may come to the Chaminade Library and the Help Desk before and after school, during the lunch period, or with permission of their teacher during class periods, M-Block, and study hall. Books may be borrowed for three weeks and magazines for one week. A fee is charged for overdue materials.  

Students will be instructed on library policies by the librarian and on technology policies by the computer information systems instructor. The librarian is available to assist with research and reading advisory.
