The GCL South Cross Country Championships (combined with the GGCL) were held Saturday, October 12th, 2024 at the Christ’s Church Mason in Mason, Ohio...home to Moeller’s “Primetime” Invitational Meet as well. On behalf of everyone associated with Moeller Cross Country and the GCL/GGCL, we want to thank Christ’s Church Mason for once again allowing us to use their grounds for our league meet. It’s a great venue, and we greatly appreciate their hospitality. Thank you again!!
In GCL Varsity action, #1 State ranked St. Xavier won their 14th consecutive title with a score of 23. Moeller finished second with 39. Elder third with 75, and LaSalle fourth with 114.
For Moeller, the top individual finisher this year was Junior Brock Grubert in 3rd place with a time of 16:24. Also scoring were Junior Preston Wesley (4th – 16:27), Junior Owen Speed (6th – 16:40), Junior Zach Lazor (11th – 17:12), and Freshman Paul Eckstein (15th – 17:49). Also running Varsity were Duncan Shirley and Carson Todd.

In the Junior Varsity race, Moeller’s squad finished 3rd with 77 points. Junior Steve Schuette was Moeller’s top finisher in that race in 10th place with a time of 18:29. Also scoring were Jake Allen, Xavier Ferguson, Max Herzog, and Zach Guthrie
In the Freshmen race, that squad finished 3rd with 55 points. Jake Jankowski was the top finisher for Moeller in 5th place with a time of 18:20. Also scoring were Hayden Sorg, Murphy Maynes, Sam Bokelman, and Nick Nedzel.
Finally, for the Open race, Moeller’s highest finisher was Senior Jacob Scott in 28th pace with a time of 19:19.

The postseason continues for the Varsity squad on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 with the OHSAA Division One Southwest Ohio District Race “A” at Voice of America Park in Westchester, Ohio, starting at 10:00am. Moeller will face off with the likes of St. Xavier, Loveland, Walnut Hills and Elder among many others with the top five teams and twenty individuals of that race advancing to Regionals in Troy following weekend.
